Get More Organic Traffic & Sales from Google
Professional Online Training Course In SEO for Shopify
Enrollment Closes 29th of June At Midnight PST
An AcquireConvert subscriber Elizabeth reached out to me a while back, she was struggling with SEO and desperately wanted to grow her Italian accessories Shopify store.
...sound familiar?
Elizabeth felt like she’d tried everything.
She tried optimizing her pages for target keywords, blogging (honestly a bit) and even hired someone cheap to help with SEO.
But whatever she tried she couldn’t get her Shopify store on the first page of Google (Not even for her own store name!) and get that all important organic traffic.
Elizabeth then started following my blueprint: SEO Course for Shopify.
She stopped outsourcing her SEO to cheap freelancers and she stopped focusing so hard on meta tags and keywords, she knew from experience these things weren't changing anything.
She thought if she could improve her Google rankings and organic traffic, she could grow her Shopify business fast and without spending a ton of money.
This was her new SEO plan…
Her problem she realized was having a step by step plan, in the past she had read random blog posts and tried little bits of SEO here and there, but she’d never had a proven blueprint to follow (and stick to) step by step.
Once she had that, her SEO quickly started to improve.
Learning the common mistakes for Shopify SEO and instead following a step by step plan was the missing link for Elizabeth.
Before, she was unhappy with her SEO and Google traffic, now she is on a path to rapid growth and profits.
In fact Elizabeth now ranks on page #1, 1st position, for her main keyword, ‘italian fashion accessories’
The steps Elizabeth took are no mystery, anyone who wants to improve their SEO and Shopify business could follow the same process.
Let’s learn about the mistakes that you can avoid with this Shopify SEO course.
Common Shopify SEO Myths
When Elizabeth started out the first thing she did was Google ‘Shopify seo tips’.
And honestly...she was pretty overwhelmed by all the choices and options. SO MANY options, Shopify apps, blog posts, tutorials, Shopify experts.
She wasn’t sure what path to take.
Now Elizabeth always followed the 80/20 rule in her business.
And for SEO it was no different.
She wanted to know what 20% of SEO tasks would bring about the biggest changes to her Google rankings and business.
She wanted to avoid the common mistakes and myths.
Let’s look at the three most common myths and mistakes people make when trying to grow their Shopify business with SEO.
Myth #1 - Optimizing your pages for keywords is SEO
Where did this myth come from…?
So many people believe SEO is simply choosing keywords and editing your meta tags to include them.
Even worse, when people include the keyword 20 times per page and think this makes a difference (in fact it can hurt you).
The truth is, optimizing your pages for keywords or as it is officially known as ‘on page SEO’ is just a small step in a much larger process that is SEO.
If fact Shopify SEO is made up of 6 key steps, keyword research, site architecture, on page SEO, technical SEO, content marketing (or blogging) and link building.
We’ve got a module dedicated to each of them in our Shopify SEO course.
Myth #2 - You need loads of links for SEO
This is a classic!
Yes, ok, of course you need links to your website to have strong SEO.
But the number of links is really not important.
It’s all about relevancy and quality when it comes to links.
You see, every website has something called ‘domain authority’, this is like a score Google gives you out of 100 to measure the strength of your sites SEO, and this scores decides who ranks #1 or #100.
To rank at the top of Google you need to have a strong domain authority score, and to get this you need links from other websites who have a good score too.
Even more than that, you need links from sites that are related to yours.
For example, as a shoe shop you’d want links from fashion blogs about shoes, not links from random websites about any old subject.
Ok, let’s keep learning…
Myth #3 - Blogging is SEO
Most people believe blogging and SEO are the same thing.
The fact is, creating content is just part of a larger SEO process.
The goal of content marketing or blogging, where SEO is concerned, is to create content that helps you attract links from other websites.
Therefore, creating content and publishing it on your store is only half the battle.
The other half, if you want to rank higher in search results, is to make sure that your content is attracting links from high quality and relevant sites.
This is called content promotion.
We teach you just how to do that in this professional course.
The Truth About Shopify SEO
So now you’ve learnt the common mistakes people make and myths to ignore, you’re probably wondering what to do instead.
Before I get into that, I want to answer the question that might be rattling around in your head right now:
“How did you figure all this out, Giles?”
It was no small feat (and it took since 2012 working at my Shopify marketing agency Whole Design Studios)...
...But I’ve created an SEO blueprint that gets consistent results…
I’m Giles Thomas, the founder of AcquireConvert & Whole Design Studios.
As you’ll learn, I’ve created an SEO blueprint that consistently generates organic traffic and sales.
Before I tell you more, let me tell you a little about my background…
In 2012 I quit my agency job and decided to go it alone. Entrepreneurship was calling and I couldn’t spend another second working for someone else.
Jason Calacanis’ words from ThisWeekInStartUps were rattling round my head 24/7.
“Are you a rice picker or a samurai?”
I wanted to be the latter.
Because I left my easy 9 - 5 job with only one month's worth of living expenses, I had to figure out how to get traffic and sales from Google and SEO REALLY fast.
That’s how I ended up spending the last 5 years testing, refining and implementing countless SEO processes…
...and teaching those processes to Shopify stores making $100/month to stores making $1m+ per month.
As the head marketing mentor for Google Launchpad I've taught entrepreneurs from all over the world.
In 2014 I was even chosen as one of only 30 marketers worldwide, to join the prestigious Google's Expert program.
From marketing keynote in Jakarta
After spending years in the shadows for countless other companies and clients.
I decided in May of 2014 to launch AcquireConvert and share my knowledge and learnings and help as many Shopify entrepreneurs and marketers as possible.
I’ve even sold online courses in marketing to thousands of happy students in the past including deals on huge sites like Appsumo.
I’m not sharing this with you to boast…
It’s to show you that I’m not one of those so called “Shopify Marketing Experts” that just tells other people to optimize your pages for keywords (which as we now know is only one small part of a complete SEO blueprint).
I know how to get real world results for real Shopify businesses.
In fact, I follow a tested, step-by-step blueprint for every Shopify store I grow through SEO.
And it’s a proven blueprint that you can use to grow your ecommerce business…quickly and at scale.
And if you’re serious about generating serious amounts of sales from your ecommerce store through SEO - the one thing you need is a bulletproof blueprint that you can tap into.
Because once you have that, you’re set. Here’s the inside scoop on what my blueprint is based on:
SEO Truth #1 - Less is more in blogging
A lot of people set of on their SEO journey thinking that to get lots of traffic and sales they need to create a lot of content.
This is not true.
The purpose of content is to attract links to your store from other websites.
To interest people enough to give you a link you need to create great content.
Content that stands out above the 1-2 million blog posts that are published every day, yes that many.
So when it comes to blogging it makes more sense to take more time over each blog post you create and make them special.
Make them so great people want to link to them again and again.
If you simply churn out lots of 500 words blog posts that are neither well researched or well written, they’ll end up getting the attention they deserve. None.
In module 5 we teach you how to create stand out content that attracts links from the best websites in your industry.
SEO Truth #2 - Content promotion is king
Once you’ve created great content, you’re only halfway through the battle.
Just because you publish a blog post, doesn’t mean someone will find it. You’ve got to promote your content.
Promotion is 50% of the work of a blog post, always remember that!
You can promote content to attract links with email outreach, social media and by building shareability into your content following our proven content frameworks.
You see, there are certain types of content that people like to share and tricks to creating content that gets near guaranteed links from top websites, more on this in the course.
SEO Truth #3 - User experience is Google’s hidden ranking factor
Now, aside from great content and high quality links, Google is also very interested in what they call ‘usability signals’.
This simply means, how visitors behave when they are on your site.
You see, Google’s one job is to answer people’s questions.
And they want to do this as fast as possible, in one click or even less if possible (the first link on the Google search page or the special featured answer box at the top).
If someone visits your site and leaves straight away or bounces, this tells Google your not answering their question.
So you get pushed down in the rankings.
Therefore the 3rd big secret to SEO is getting people to stick around.
This is done with great content and with a great user experience.
If your page loads slowly, looks ugly, is hard to read on mobile or anything else, the visitor will leave and you’ll slip down the rankings.
So UX is key to great SEO in 2018.
Shopify SEO is about creating ‘link worthy’ content, getting high quality and relevant links through content promotion and creating a great UX so visitors don’t bounce and leave your store
I can’t emphasize this enough: Unless you have a proven, step-by-step blueprint in place, you’re flying blind with your SEO.
Because they don’t have a complete SEO process, most people tend to ask questions like:
“How do I optimize my meta tags?”
“What keywords should I use, how many and where do I find them?”
“How do I write a great blog post that people want to link to?”
“What is content promotion and how is it done?”
I don’t know what else to say but this: These questions DON’T MATTER.
The strength of this course is that it provides proven, explicit steps to improve your SEO while removing the guesswork associated with business growth.
When you find yourself asking questions like this, it means that you’re worrying about things that don’t make a difference AT ALL.
And unless you know what you need to be focusing on, you’ll never be able to get consistent results.
What’s the solution?
A proven, step-by-step blueprint that shows you EXACTLY what you need to do and EXACTLY how to do it.
Because once you have a proven plan in place, you’re set.
There’s no guesswork and nothing to figure out.
Just follow the steps, do the work, get the growth to your store.
I just have one quick question for you…
What would you rather do: Spend the next year slaving over your SEO, HOPING that something you try will actually work?
…Or follow a proven blueprint that holds you by the hand, shows you the exact steps you need to follow to succeed, and lands you a steady stream of traffic and sales 24/7?
I know which one I’d pick.
If you’re still convinced that you should just add some keywords and hope for the best, stop reading right now.
But if you can see the value in having a proven blueprint that you can use to improve your SEO and get you sales for your Shopify business again and again, keep reading…
